The Felix Fund - A Little Motivation

It all started one morning at the bus stop when I had to carry Nathan onto the bus and buckle him into the seat because he wanted to stay behind and pet a neighbor's pug.

I really thought he was just being oppositional and trying to find a way to stay home but when the bus dropped him off in the afternoon, Nathan made a bee line for Felix.  Seriously, not even a "hi mom", he just tossed his backpack at me and then proceeded to pat the grandpa pug on the top of his head.  He was so gentle and completely in the pug zone.  All the kids at our stop were playing and Nathan wanted to invite himself over to his friend's house, Felix that is.

We are thinking, after seeing how attentive Nathan is with his new friend, that it might be therapeutic for him to have his own dog.  After looking at photos of many breeds, Nathan is still locked in on the small, bulgy eyed, wrinkly, flat faced breed.  The pug life definitely chose Nathan.

But we aren't going to go buy a pug tomorrow, we are going to make him work for it and earn it, by eating.  Most other reward systems for eating have been complete failures so I am hoping this is some serious motivation.  He is going to get quarters for eating his lunch at school, the one meal a day I have absolutely zero control over.

He was stoked to pic out the pictures he wanted to glue onto his Felix Fund Jar.  The first photo he chose was a pug wearing gold grills on his teeth, the second photo was a very obese old pug which is his favorite photo, and then the rest were darth vader, yoda, batman and robin pug among other cute pics.

When he got home from school I let him cut out and mod podge the photos onto an old plastic animal cracker jar I was using to hold some yarn.

The name may change, but right now he wants it to be Felix, just like his friend Felix.

3 and 5

Almost a month late but better late than never.  I attempted to take Nathan and Teagan's birthday photos in Myrtle Beach but right before that attempt they had slurpies.  Remember Teagan's blue lips?  Not a good look for a birthday portrait.

Teagan turns three

On the morning of Teagan's third birthday, which was almost 2 weeks ago, the birthday girl celebrated by tossing pixie dust, or dry pancake mix, into the air.

Both of my kids get into a lot of trouble in this corner of the kitchen near the pantry, but that smile in the photo above - magical.

First Day of School 2013 {Preschool and Kindergarten}

I was so anxious for Nathan's first day of kindergarten.  I pulled him out of bed and started his treatments at 6:30 in the morning.  He slept straight through the half hour treatment.  I still wake him up at this time but he hasn't slept through treatments since his first day.

Then we took our obligatory first day of school photos.  I am going to totally overload with these photos because I LOVE their candid expressions as I snapped away, goofiness and personality that I want to remember forever!

Grandpa Frank, Grandma, and Grandpa Bill all came to the bus stop to see Nathan off to school on his first day.  Nathan was recruiting all the people to "fight the wood chucks".  He tried to get everyone's phone number, not that I am sure he would know exactly what to do with those numbers.

This photo below kills me, I see anxiety in his face.  As soon as I saw this I went over to him and gave him a huge hug.

...and just like that, he was gone.

***** Fast forward to school bus drop off.  Notice Teagan changed her outfit, probably several times.  Tutu, hawaiian lei, kitty, extremely beat up "Dora shoes", as she calls them.

And he is HOME!!!!!

Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel

The Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel, the biggest, most comfortable Ferris Wheel every, period.

Although a certain member of our party, not naming names, was not sold on the idea of riding very high into the sky, the kids and I were stoked.
